News update from Costa del Sol:
Corona update 
The infection rate on Costa del Sol is now being reduced very quickly. The number of infected people per 100 000 the last 14 days gives a good picture of the infection pressure at the moment. In Benalmadena this number is on March 12th 108,5, Malaga 86,3, Torremolinos 39,0, Fuengirola 88,1, Marbella 222,2 and Estepona 153,8. In comparison these numbers are 133,6 in average in Great Britain, 130,51 in all of Spain, 149,1 in Norway  and 410,2 in Oslo. The vaccination has started, and as of now 5 353 000 people (11,4%) have already been vaccinated here in Spain. As most countries we really hope that they manage to speed up the vaccination, and we are optimistic regarding the summer of 2021. 
In our municipality (Benalmadena) and the surrounding municipalities daily life is pretty ok. Restaurants and shops are open, we play padel, tennis and golf, and you can enjoy the sun and a drink on the beach. However, there are mask requirements, and you have to disinfect your hands before entering the shops, dispensers are at the entrance everywhere. You can take off your mask when sitting down in a restaurant, but the waiters always use masks. 
The fact that the pandemic is taken seriously here and there are strict rules that are followed makes it feel safe.

Netflix series shot in Spain 
When you are longing for Spain it might help to see a good series that is shot in Spain. Here are some suggestions:

La Casa de Papel (Money Heist, Papirhuset) is a very good production that is shot mainly in the Madrid area, but also Segovia (Castile and León) and the area of Guadarrama River were featured. 

Toy Boy is a Spanish crime drama thriller television series released on Netflix in September 2019. Toy Boy was mainly shot in Torremolinos, Fuengirola, and Vélez-Málaga. This series is specially popular amongst the ladies..

The Crown was actually shot in several areas of Spain. Jerez de la Frontera, Sotogrande and Seville, but also at the Convent of Santo Domingo in Jerez which for the purpose of the series, was transformed into a hospital. In Sotogrande, in Cádiz, we can see the princess travels in a vintage car with her husband, and in season four, the streets of Malaga become the protagonist thanks to Lady Di. 
There are many more series shot in Spain, both by Spanish and foreign productions, so just start exploring.
Estepona - a hidden gem on Costa del Sol 
With an overall population of 70,000, the 'old town', as it is known, is a bustling and atmospheric centre.
Estepona is a town and municipality in southern Spain. Its district covers an area of 137 square kilometers in a fertile valley crossed by small streams and a mountainous areas dominated by the Sierra Bermeja, which reaches an elevation of 1 449 m at the peak of Los Reales.
Estepona is renowned for its beaches, which stretch along some 21 km of coastline. It is a popular resort and holiday destination.
Due to its natural environment, surrounded by the sea and the mountains, Estepona has a micro-climate with over 325 days of sunshine per year.
